What to Expect

Our Kids Fishing Charter is an afternoon excursion in the Choctawhatchee Bay and surrounding area waters. The most important facts regarding the 3 hr Kids Trips is that we do NOT go into the Gulf of Mexico during these charters and this is ONLY a catch and release charter. This charter is aimed at keeping children happy! For our charters, you’ll arrive about 15 minutes prior to your departure. Once you are at the boat, the Capt. will load up all of your belongings and put life jackets on the children, if applicable. Once life jackets are on and everyone is on the boat, the Capt. will begin your excursion into the bay.

On some charters, the Capt. may have to throw a cast net to catch bait for your charter. You will likely obtain speeds up to 30 miles an hour cruising through the bay and will reach your destination within 10-20 minutes of being on the boat. The Capt’s job on this charter is to catch smaller fish that your children are capable of reeling in. We target Blue Fish, Speckled Trout, Red Fish, Flounder, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, and more on these charters. Approximately 2.75 hours into the charter, you will make your way back to the dock at the Fort Walton Beach Yacht Basin. You will pay the Capt. via cash, credit card, or check. An 18-20% gratuity is customary. The Capt. will unload your belongings, including items in the cooler and will send you off for an evening of reminiscing about your charter!

Bow Fishing Charter Boat Destin

Our daytime Bow Fishing in Destin takes place in the Choctawhatchee Bay and surrounding area waters. The most important part of your charter is making sure you have polarized sunglasses and a hat! You will arrive at the dock 30 minutes prior to your departure. Once you’ve arrived, you will be handed a bow to practice with before departure. Once you’ve had quite a few practice shots, you’ll load up on the boat and begin your excursion into the bay.

For a 3-hour bowfishing charter, you’ll likely be to your destination within 10-20 minutes from departure. We target the flats of Choctawhatchee Bay where the water is clear and you can see hundreds of yards ahead of you. The Capt. and one other person, if they’d like, will be spotting in the tower for our target species. The Capt. will call out to which side of the boat and the clock hand at which they are (i.e. 1 o’clock), you’ll find your target in the water, aim, and shoot.

The action will happen quickly so you’ll need to be prepared! If you hit your target, you’ll reel it in and bring it aboard. You may keep your catch or if it is a stingray, we may release them back into the water as long as they are hit with a kill-shot. This will happen several times over the course of your charter. Approximately 2.75 hours into the charter, unless you’ve booked longer, you will make your way back to the dock at the Fort Walton Beach Yacht Basin. You will pay the Capt. via cash, credit card, or check. An 18-20% gratuity is customary. The Capt. will unload your belongings, including items in the cooler, and will clean your catch, if you opted to harvest.

During your charter, you may have to venture to find bait, meaning that the Capt. may have to throw a cast net a time or two. You will likely move to several different “spots” that the Capt. has logged in his fish finder; you may move to bridges, docks, and more. Once you’re at your first destination, you’ll cast into the water and hope for a bite! Once you’ve had a bite, do not set the hook; just reel! Some types of fish, the Capt. may advise you to release the drag on the reel, so that when you get a bite, the hook does not automatically snap. Once you have a bite, reel it in!! Once the fish is to the boat, the capt. will use a net to scoop it into the boat; he will measure it (FWC guidelines) and if it is a keeper, we’ll put it in the icebox after pictures!!

Gulf Charter Fishing Destin

Our Gulf Fishing Charters typically run in the mornings and some afternoons, depending on the tide. The best reminder for this charter is that you MUST book a 5 hour if you are targeting Snapper.  These charters run in the Gulf of Mexico and we venture less than 9 miles out – the majority of the time you can still see land. For our charters, you’ll arrive about 15 minutes prior to your departure. Once you are at the boat, the Capt. will load up all of your belongings. Once everyone is on the boat, the Capt. will begin your excursion into the gulf. On some charters, you may swing through the live bait boat bright and early to pay for bait and other times, you may have to catch your own bait in the East Pass or at your first spot.

You will likely reach your destination within 45 minutes of departure. During your Gulf Fishing Charter, you may do a variety of different types of fishing; such as, trolling and bottom fishing and you will travel to many different spots to target a variety of species. For bottom fishing, you’ll release the reel and drop down to the bottom. Once you have a bite, you’ll reel up and bring it to the boat. If you’re trolling, the Capt. will bait the hook, set it in the rod holders and drive slowly through the water to attract King Mackerel and more. Once you see the rod tip towards the water, grab it and reel it to the boat. The Capt. will de-hook the fish and if it’s a keeper, throw it in the icebox after pictures!
